Garbled characters and other problems occur when loading with Excel connector

Question

When I load an old format Excel file (.xls) into Excel Connector, I encounter problems such as garbled characters.
What versions of Excel file formats are supported by HULFT Square?

■Format of the Excel file to load
　"Microsoft Excel 5.0/95 book" (extension .xls)

■Problems that occur
1. In the Designer "Read from Sheet Processing Properties" dialog box, the following occured.

• Sheet names are garbled.
• Error occurs when clicking "Open Excel Wizard."
  "System.InvalidOperationException: Workbook saved in BIFF5/BIFF7 is an unsupported format. ..."
• When "Update column list" is clicked, the displayed column names are garbled.

2. When executing a script to output the read contents to CSV, the process ends normally, but the output CSV is garbled.

Answer

Excel Connector supports Excel books and Excel 2003 books, created in Excel 2019/2016/2013.
HULFT Square does not support files created in Excel 2010/2007/2003 and former versions.

Therefore, the "Microsoft Excel 5.0/95 book" in the question is not supported.

For a workaround, open the file in a supported Excel application and re-save it in an Excel book other than Microsoft Excel 5.0/95 book, or in an Excel 2003 book.
