Question
What kind of configuration item is "Shift code" in HULFT Transfer Send?
Answer
Shift code is an item to set the handling of shift codes when transferring files to mainframe system hosts such as Mainframes, IBM i, or K series.
When this item is selected, shift codes are added before and after 2-byte codes.
In the case of text transfer, the data length is increased by the shift codes.
If you do not select the item, no shift code is added.
Supplementary information
Shift code is effective for transfers between open system OS (Windows and UNIX/Linux) and mainframe OS, and also between open system OS (Windows and UNIX/Linux) and OS for office computers (OS400 and K). Otherwise, this configuration item has no effect.
This is because open system OS uses shift codes but mainframe OS and OS for office computers do not use shift codes.
Also, Shift code has to be set on the sending side, regardless of the code conversion side.
